Long County's SkillsUSA chapter took 17 students to the State Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta last week. Students competed across eight competitions, including Extemporaneous Speaking, Short Film, and Medical Terminology. Ireland Clayton, a sophomore, placed second in Culinary Arts, and Kaydn Meyers, a senior, won the state championship in Photography. He will advance to the National Leadership and Skills Conference.

Great job to our SkillsUSA members and to our Advisor, Mr. Bailey!

Long County High FFA celebrated National FFA Week with intentional activities centered around growing leaders, strengthening agriculture, and building our community.

Growing Leaders:
Officers kicked off the week with a chapter meeting featuring an FFA-themed Jeopardy competition and led daily promotional efforts. The week concluded with our annual officer “Pie in the Face” event, allowing student leaders to engage with the entire school community.

Strengthening Agriculture:
Students promoted hands-on agricultural skills through Welding Wednesday and participated in an Arbor Day tree planting during agriculture classes, reinforcing environmental stewardship and forestry education.

Building Communities:
Members showed appreciation to faculty with Chick-fil-A biscuits and participated in a highway clean-up to serve our local community and demonstrate pride in Long County.

Our chapter intentionally plans and documents National FFA Week activities as part of our Program of Activities and in preparation for the National FFA Week Observance Award, which recognizes chapters that effectively promote leadership development, agricultural advocacy, and community engagement.

Mrs. Richerzhagen and Ms. Maddox’s classes reviewed their unit with a fun game of Test Review Kickball! Students had to correctly answer unit-related questions in order to kick the ball.

This was a great way to review important content while keeping students active, engaged, and working together as a team. We love seeing learning come to life in creative ways—great job, Mrs. Richerzhagen and Ms. Maddox!

Dr. Harper's students took triangle congruence to the next level by rotating through 24 task cards, spending 30 seconds at each station to determine whether the triangles were congruent using SSS, SAS, ASA, AAS, or HL.

This fast-paced activity challenged students to think quickly, apply their prior knowledge of parallel lines and angle relationships, and stay fully engaged from start to finish. Learning was active, collaborative, and fun! Great job making math so interactive, Dr. Harper!
