Mrs. Anderson's ECE students have been learning about early brain development and how neurons form connections when a young child’s brain is stimulated. To make this concept more hands-on, students created edible neurons using candy to model the parts of the neuron and the connections they make. After building their neurons, they were able to enjoy the snack as well!

Mrs. Anderson's ECE III students are learning about language and communication by bringing stories to life! They created interactive book props and practiced engaging reading strategies before visiting LCPS classes during Read Across America Week. Sharing the joy of reading with younger students is a great way to build communication and teaching skills. We are grateful for our continued partnership with LCPS for opportunities like this!

Mrs. Anderson’s ECE class explored the social and emotional development of toddlers with a fun simulation activity! Each group shared one marker (with a string for each member) and worked together to draw a detailed house for points. Through teamwork and a little frustration, students learned how challenging emotion regulation and peer socialization can be for young children.
Great job, Mrs. Anderson and our ECE students!

“Ketchup with the Counselors” was a great success this Thursday!
During lunch, students had the opportunity to hear from our special guests, Mrs. Rivera and Mrs. Allen, who shared valuable information about exploring Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in honor of Black History Month.
A huge thank you to our amazing LCHS counselors — Mrs. Wilkes, Ms. Hettinger, and Mrs. Harrison — for organizing meaningful opportunities like this for our students. We appreciate the work you do to help guide and inspire their future pathways!

Ms. Garrason’s Forestry classes recently completed a hands-on Dendrology Morphology Lab during their leaf identification unit. Students rotated through stations analyzing simple vs. compound leaves, margins, shapes, and arrangements using real specimens. They sketched, labeled, and applied scientific vocabulary to classify trees based on observable characteristics.
This activity strengthened critical thinking, observation skills, and technical vocabulary while aligning with Georgia Forestry standards. Great job, Ms. Garrason, on such an interactive and engaging lesson!
